Way to Weave!

A new concept in weave pole design! Ace Russell has been working on the concept since late 2006, and the first product run is due in June, 2007. It's a really neat device to help take your dog from the early stages of training (using the 'channel' method) all the way to a competition (approved regulation) set. Unlike existing metal bases, the centerline is truly centered ... not oriented only to the odd- or even-numbered poles. The poles themselves 'float' over the base, which allows the base to be a completely flat surface. The pole support sliders are easy to nudge with your foot, and they can be staked in any position. There's a version that has solidly welded legs and another that has removable legs for added portability. For the powder coated, non-skid finish, there's even a choice of colors!

Scotch is invited to the AKC Nationals for the 2nd year in a row!

The #11 Golden Retriever in obedience competition for 2006 is Scotch (OTCH Godiva's Butterscotch Lion UDX8 AX AXJ RN). He and George Beck are well within the group of Goldens invited to this year's AKC National Obedience Invitational, December 2-3, 2006, Long Beach, CA. This is the most prestigious event each year for competitive obedience. What makes it even more amazing is that Scotch is now virtually retired, having competed on only 7 occasions during the qualifying period!

At last year's NOI, George and Scotch came in 16th out of 135 dog/handler teams invited. Thirty-two teams made it to the final day of competition, but not the top scoring dogs from the previous day. Because the NOI is based on breed groupings, 17 of the top 32 dogs (including Scotch) didn't continue. Dogs who made it to the finals scored in a range from 438 to 674. Scotch scored 662.5, only 11.5 points behind the #1 seed, the Lab who eventually won (for the second year in a row).

Scotch was the highest scoring dog from the Southeast. There were no better scores for teams east of Texas and south of New Jersey. Not bad for George’s Novice A dog!

Harpo! Riot's pup!

Meet Harpo, Godiva's Harpo Talks RA. His mother is the infamous, do-the-chute-backwards, sit-in-the-laps-of-the-ring-crew, Riot. Those of you who have seen her in agility undoubtedly remember her. She like to play to the crowd. Harpo's father is Judy Hart's Max (pic below). Seems like Max has brought some much-needed rationality to the gene pool. Harpo got his Rally Novice title at the age of 8 months and the Advanced title a little later. He's currently training in agility.
