Training
For newcomers to dog training, no matter what your goals, we recommend Obedience as a great starting point. There are 3 basic options for beginning Obedience training: classes, private lessons or 'Boarding School'. Please click Calendar for our class schedule. Click TVKC classes for group sessions that are offered in conjunction with Tennessee Valley Kennel Club, Inc. (TVKC).
For dogs and handlers who are beyond the basics, we suggest private lessons. For Obedience or Agility at intermediate or advanced levels, we'll be glad to schedule group sessions for multiple dog/handler teams. Please contact us for details and scheduling. When interest warrants, TVKC may also offer intermediate and advanced training options at Meadowbrooke.

We like to think of it as dog sense – common sense with an intuition for the canine spirit. Our trainers speak 'dog language'. You'll see that when you take lessons with us. Training is not just for the dog, it’s something that both you and your dog learn together. Having a well-behaved dog is one of the most rewarding aspects of the human-canine relationship.
Training options
Classes (6-week course): For puppies, a group class gives you guidance during the most impressionable (and sometimes the most difficult) stage of a dog’s life. Classes are also recommended for non-aggressive adult dogs, as an introduction to Obedience or Agility. Our main goal is to share the basics of dog language, encouraging teamwork in a secure and comfortable learning environment. Our beginner Obedience class cover skills such as Sit, Heel, Stay, Down, Stand, Leave It, and Come. This skills help build confidence by positive motivational techniques. No dog is too old to learn! 6 weeks, an hour each week, $120.
Private lessons are available according to your own scheduling preferences. Maybe our class times are inconvenient for you. Maybe your dog requires special handling or you don't want him socializing with other dogs or people while you're training him. Perhaps you're looking for competition lessons. We can arrange sessions where it's just you, your dog, and our trainer at times that fit into your busy schedule.
'Boarding School' provides an environment for your dog that you may not be able to provide at home. When a dog stays with us, we can train at frequent intervals for short periods of time. For problem behavior, this yields impressive results. Getting a dog away from his regular home (and away from those inevitable distractions) enables him to concentrate on the training and break bad habits. Boarding, feed, exercise, a training collar and lead are all included in the price, in addition to the multiple lessons for his human family at the end of his stay.

If your dog:
- pulls you around on his leash
- can’t be trusted around children
- is overly noisy, shy, or aggressive
- needs housebreaking
- can’t Come, Sit, Stay, or Heel
we can help!
